We spent a week in Winnipeg for summer camp and were looking for fun things to do in the off hours. We saw a promotion... on The Forks event page for guided river fishing. (Yes, please! My kid loves river fishing and even brought his own rod/reel on this trip.) However, the next scheduled event at The Forks was set on our departure day, so we’d just miss it. We saw that SquarePeg was leading the event, so we contacted Kristen there to see about a separate guiding slot at any point in the week. Miraculously, she was able to open space for us on a Friday after camp. She gave us great directions, brought bait, supplied extra rods/reels, shared awesome Winnipeg history and facts while we fished, and hung in there with my uber fisherkid, who logged five hours at the port (until 11 p.m.). He was able to reel in a baby cat and was so very thrilled. We’ve had many guided fishing stints, and he said this was his favorite. Thank you, Kristen! We WILL see you again on our next visit.🐠read more
